Thelda Emily Carius (nee Speck), 98 of Avon Lake, formerly of Berea, passed away peacefully, Friday, September 14, 2012 at her home at Independence Village, following a brief illness. Mrs. Carius was born, March 15, 1914 in Berea and had made her home in Avon Lake the past 7 years.

Thelda was a home maker, a member of the Congregational Church of Berea and a member of the Pythian Sisters the auxiliary of the Knights of Pythias. Her favorite hobbies were knitting and crocheting, creating afghans for each family member as well as for friends and charity.

Thelda is survived by her children Karen Clawson (Gary) of Avon Lake and Alan Carius (Mary Ann) of Hilliard; 4 grandchildren Amy, Heather, Jeffrey and Jennifer and 7 great grandchildren Alan, George, Caroline, Cody, Hannah, Evan and Emma. She is preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Carl G, who passed away June 14, 2008; her parents Charles and Bessie (nee Bradley) Speck and 4 brother and 2 sisters.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Wednesday, September 19 from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral Services will be at the Funeral Home, Thursday at 11:00am, Rev. Nancy Manner of Lakeshore United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be at 2:15pm at Sunset Memorial Park, Olmsted Township.
