Richard "Dick" John Murway, age 88, of Lakewood, died August 4, 2012. Beloved father of Mark of Fredericksburg, VA and Carl of Avon Lake, OH, and devoted grandfather of Nicholas, Kyle, and Brandon. He is also survived by daughters-in-law Elaine Reardon and Patricia Murway. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Gerlach) and brother of Alfred both of whom preceded him in death. Born in Lakewood, OH in 1923 of the late Alfred and Marie (nee Siller) Murway. He attended the University of Oregon and graduated from the University of Michigan. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII. Prior to retirement, he worked as a reporter and editorial writer for the Cleveland Press, editor for the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, press secretary to Mayor Carl B. Stokes, and as senior editor of the Sun Newspapers. Private services will be held. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland or ACLU.
