Mark Allan Swortchek, 49, a resident of Elyria for the past 30 years has passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at University Hospital in Cleveland following a short illness. He was formerly of North Ridgeville. He was born May 1, 1963 in Bay Village.

Mark graduated from North Ridgeville High School, Class of 1981. He attended Lorain County Community College. Mark and his wife Wendy were married April 24, 1982. He was employed in Grocery Store Management at TOPS and Giant Eagle and retired after 33 years. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in North Ridgeville. He enjoyed fishing, reading, sports, and time with his family.

Mr. Swortchek is survived by his wife of 30 years Wendy (nee Bartlebaugh) of Elyria; son Mathew Swortchek (Sarah) of Bowling Green, OH; daughter Kara Swortchek of Shake Heights; parents Joseph and Shirley Swortchek of Grafton; brother James Swortchek (Lori) of Litchfield, OH; mother-in-law Nora Bartlebaugh of North Ridgeville; father-in-law Theodore Bartlebaugh of Indiana, PA; brothers-in-law Theodore C. Bartlebaugh and Joel C. Bartlebaugh; niece Kylee Bartlebaugh; nephews James, Thomas (Katie) Joseph Swortchek and Thorin and Dain Bartlebaugh.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Elmer and Alice Johnson; maternal aunts Barbara Perry and Judy McManus.

Memorial service will be 2pm Saturday, October 27 at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 36363 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville. Rev. Jim Link will officiate.
