Linda A. Ramaley died surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 19, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Lorain. Linda fought a long and courageous battle with cancer; she was 50 years old. Linda was born in Lorain to her loving parents, Charles and Alice (nee Smith) Ramaley, on August 29, 1962. The family, complete with four children, moved from Avon Lake, to Pennsylvania, to Sheffield Lake. Linda graduated from Sheffield Lake's Brookside High School and attended Ashland University, graduating with her BA in Commercial Art.
Linda worked for RH Welf and Associates. She especially enjoyed spending her time with her friends from the Sheffield Lake VFW. She worked for her community through the many good works done by the Sheffield Lake VFW. Linda placed flags on Memorial Day and Veterans Day. She helped with many benefit dinners, turkey shoots and golf outings, and at Easter time she enjoyed dressing up as the Easter Bunny. The last Sheffield Lake VFW benefit she attended was in her honor; close to $4,000 was raised by her VFW family to help her in her time of need. She was very grateful for the wonderful friends she made and kept in that club.
Linda is survived by her mother, Alice Ramaley, of Avon Lake; her sister, Charlene Kurko (Jerry) of Monroe, Va.; her brothers, Brian (Wava) of North Ridgeville and Blair (Claudette) of Fresno, Ohio; she will be missed terribly by her nieces and nephews, Deanna, Terri, Jessica, Ian, Nate and Melissa. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Ramaley, in 2005, and her beloved fiancé, Terrance "TC" Cooke, in January of this year.
Linda's funeral service will be at the Lakeshore United Methodist Church, 33199 Electric Blvd., Avon Lake; the Rev. Nancy Manner will preside; burial will follow the service at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Thursday. 440-933-3202
