Edward F. Vernon (Verhovitz) of Clearwater, Florida passed away peacefully at a nursing home on Sunday, April 1, 2012. He was 81. Born and reared in Cleveland, Ohio, he graduated from James Ford Rhodes High, class of 1948. He later attended Fenn College. Edward served in the Medical Corp U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his tour of duty, he managed a Lawson Store in Brooklyn, Ohio. He and the family moved to New Jersey, after Edward accepted a position with Bausch & Lomb in New York, New York.

After moving to Florida to follow his passion as a licensed dispensing and refractive optician, Edward opened and managed the Optical Hall of Frames. During his active years, he was a member of American Legion Post No. 7, Clearwater; Knights of Columbus, Clearwater; and Benevolent Protective Order of Elks (BPOE).

Edward is survived by his sister Carol Fogarty (Robert), Columbus, Ohio; brother Robert Vernon, Honolulu, Hawaii; daughter Lisa Faro (Jeff) and sons Edward Verhovitz and Michael Verhovitz (Cindy), and seven grandchildren, all who reside in the greater Cleveland area. He is preceded in death by parents Edward & Caroline.

A family graveside service will be held in Cleveland on Monday, April 16 at 12 Noon at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park Road. The funeral procession will begin at Busch Funeral Home at 11:30 A.M. A luncheon will follow the service.
