Wilmer R. Schuett, age 84, passed away at his home in Rocky River on Thursday, May 23, 2019. Beloved husband of Geraldine "Geri" A. Schuett (nee Falkenthal); loving father of Wendy Schnittger (Phil), Carey (Gayle), Ryan (Shelly), Briggs (Jennifer), and Melanie Womble (Todd); devoted grandfather of twelve and great grandfather of seven; brother of Walton (Jeannie), Anita Kienast (Merlin), and the late Marvin (Irene, deceased); brother-in-law of the late Gib Falkenthal (Norma). Preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Selma Schuett (nee Lichtenberg), Wil was born October 9, 1934, in Clyman Township, WI, attended high school in Hustisford, WI, and served three years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On December 11, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Geri, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Honolulu. After his military service, Wil returned to the family dairy farm, continuing his education via the GI Bill. He retired as Industrial Credit Manager from Ridge Tool in Elyria. Wil's passions were spending time with his family, traveling, gardening, jigsaw puzzles, bowling, teaching family to grow vegetables, canning, trying new recipes, and his beloved Green Bay Packers. Wil participated in numerous civic organizations, including the American Legion (64 years), where he served as Adjutant and Commander of Post 451 in Rocky River. He was a member of the Lutheran Veterans Club, Credit Association, and helped with fundraisers for his church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Lutheran Education Endowment Fund, 3870 Linden Rd., Rocky River, 44116. Wil's victory celebration will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 21485 Lorain Rd., Fairview Park. Family will receive friends at the church at 10 am. Interment with Navy Honors to follow at Hope Memorial Gardens in Hinckley. 440-333-9774
