Theodore "Ted" Stanley Zajac, 100 of Bay Village passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018. He was born 23 July 1918 in Cleveland, Ohio to Polish Immigrants: Sophie (nee Polak) and Stanley Zajac.
Ted was a graduate of West Tech High School and he enlisted in the Army in 1941. He ended the war as a Major in the Chemical Corps. During WWII he was instrumental in advancing this country's understanding of the chemical capabilities of our allies and enemies.
Utilizing the G.I. Bill, Ted graduated from Ohio University (Now a Distinguished Graduate) with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was a primary figure in the founding of Zalo, Manatrol (Now a division of Parker Hannifin), Vectron, and Zaytran. He was awarded over twenty US and foreign patents many of which are the basis for products still sold today.
As an avid golfer Ted played at Lakewood Country Club into his 90's.
He is survived by a daughter, Frances (Clement) Wroblewski, Jr (nee Zajac), son Theodore Zajac, Jr.; niece Jean Zajac, nephew James Zajac; step-daughter JulieAnn (William) Phillips (nee Appleson), and step-son John Appleson; as well as numerous grand-children.
He is preceeded in death by his wife of 20 Years, Patricia Ann (nee Kepic) Zajac and brothers: Julius Walter "JW" Zajac and Dr. Edward Eugene Zajac.
