Obituary

Sophie (Zosia) Nolan (NEE: Borkowski), 88, born in Cleveland, Ohio, died peacefully on July 9, 2020. She was the beloved wife of 50 years to the late John Nolan; dear mother of Terri Tomoff (Bill); Kimberly Kocan (Jerry) and Annette Pejeau; proud grandmother of seven: Olivia and Ryan Tomoff; Brandon, Nathan and Justin Kocan, and Dylan and Zachary Pejeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kostanti and Michaelena Borkowski; and siblings: Hattie Oliver; Leonard Borkowski; Chester Borkowski and Henrietta Strzala. She also answered to Aunt Sophie to many nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly.

Sophie was a Girl Scout Co-Leader, an avid bowler, a cook of Polish cuisine and an excellent crocheter. Her crocheted blankets are coveted items in the family; from baby blankets to large lap and bed blankets that will always be treasured. She also loved to read and enjoyed word search and crossword puzzles, but one of her greatest joys was being with her daughters and their families. The highlight of her week was Sunday, not only for Mass, but cooking for a brood and a delicious Sunday dinner for all.

A Mass of Christian burial with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery will be held privately for immediate family only. The Mass will be broadcast live, those wishing to watch may call in to the funeral home for the link.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sophie's name to Special Love, Inc. (Camps for Children with Cancer - her grandson Ryan is a 5X survivor.) https://specialove.org/
