Ronald L. Cross, 84, of Cleveland, beloved husband of Martha Blachly-Cross; dear father to John (Karen), Jim (Sharon), and Susan Cross, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 as a result of complications from Parkinson's Disease. He was born July 14, 1932 in Palestine, Illinois to Pearl Mae Fouty Cross and Victor Cross. He was one of four children. He is preceded in death by his brother, Robert and sister, Mary Gangloff. He is survived by his brother, Larry (Evelyn), nieces, Nora Leggitt (Brian), Lorna "Tinker" Baker (Robert), Kathy McLaughlin (John), nephew, Alan Cross, dear friends, Ann Benjamin and Robert Clark, and brother-in-law, Ralph Blachly.

Ron graduated from Robinson Illinois High School in 1950. He continued to attend his high school class reunions and met with his classmates for the 65th anniversary of their graduation in 2015. He and several other young men from Robinson joined the Navy and trained at Great Lakes. Ron served during the Korean War and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

After serving his country for four years, Ron returned to Robinson and attended college at Terre Haute, Indiana on the G.I. Bill. After earning a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Indiana State University, he took a position in personnel at the Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan. It was there he met the Martin family and began dating their daughter, Barbara. They were married in 1960 and started a family. Twin boys, Jim and John, were born in 1960, and their daughter, Susan, was born in 1963.

A professional move to Goodrich Gulf Oil took them to Port Arthur, Texas. They later moved to Ohio, living first in Macedonia and Parma Heights where Ron worked for Ford Motor. They later settled in Avon Lake, Ohio where Ron worked as manager of employee relations at the Goodrich Chemical plant. The three children attended Avon Lake schools and participated in music and sports. Ron later took a position with the DFAS Navy Finance Center in downtown Cleveland, and retired in 1996.

Ron was the President of the Barbershop Quartet Society in Texas and continued singing in Northeast Ohio. He sang bass with church choirs and the Hermit Club Men's Chorus. He also became involved in community theatre and appeared in productions on several community stages including Huntington Playhouse, Lakewood Little Theatre/Beck Center, Clague Playhouse, Dobama, North Ridgeville, Cassidy Theatre, Greenbriar, the Hermit Club, and Chagrin Valley. He also had a stint as a professional actor with Carousel Dinner Theatre and Trumpet in the Land in New Philadelphia.

In 1982, Ron married Martha Blachly, and they enjoyed 35 wonderful years together sharing their love of music, theatre, and travel.
