Richard D. Bernhofer, age 91; beloved husband of Joann and the late Theresa; proud father of Fred (Esther), Dean (Sue), Lynne (James), step father of Don (Donna), Lori (Jim), and Lynn (Joe); loving grandfather of Sarah (Mike), Jesselyn (Brice), Alyssa (Tim), Hannah (Scott) 𝖠𝗆𝗒 (Eric),, Sam, Wesley, Matthew, Josh (Leah), Brandon, John, Kyle, Teea, Joe (Michelle), Jimmy (Alicia), Katie, Amanda (Kevin), Lauren, Annie (Nathan), Kristen, and Jimmy; great-grandfather of Ella Kay, Jameson, Owen, Jane, Avery, Josie, Amelia, and Logan; dear brother of Beverly Beebe ( Don). Passed away February 9, 2020.

Richard D. Bernhofer was a loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle and loyal friend. He grew up on the west side of Cleveland, attended West Tech High School, and served in the US Army from 1946 to 1948 in occupied Japan, He graduated from Case Institute of Technology with a degree in civil engineering following his commitment to the service. He married Teresa Schwartz in 1955 and they had 3 children: Fred, Dean and Lynn. From 1957 to 1998, he had a successful career as Vice President of Cleveland Cement Contractors, which was responsible for much of the City of Cleveland's skyline. Following the untimely death of Teresa, he met and married Joann Zak, and continued his life in a loving way encompassing all of their children. One of his greatest loves was the cottage at Chautauqua, where he could pass time with his family enjoying the water and having fun. He was blessed by 21 grandchildren and took pleasure in attending all the kids school events. He enjoyed hosting events that brought all of his extended family together, which was the total joy of his life. He is survived by his wife, Joann, his children, Fred, Dean, Lynn, Don, Lori, and Lynn, as well as 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was all about having fun and helping others. He was a special man who reached many people, who will forever miss him.

Funeral mass at St. Matthias Church, 1200 W Sprague Rd, Parma, OH 44134 Saturday, February 15 at 10AM. Please meet at the church. Private Interment at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
