Obituary

Matilda J. Fusek, 95, of Bay Village, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2018. She was born to the late Matthew and Antonia (nee Draschovic) Fusek on January 5, 1923, in Benwood, West Virginia. Matilda excelled in ceramics and pottery, and she entered many of her works in the May Show at the Cleveland Museum of Art in the 1960s. In her later years, she worked for Jody Cleary Interior Designs. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed participating in book clubs. She loved gardening, and was a devoted member of St. Clare Church in Lyndhurst, Ohio, for more than 50 years. A light in the hearts of many, she was a loving sister, aunt and friend. Matilda's sense of humor and gentle, sweet presence delighted all who knew her. She leaves behind her niece, Pamela Borden Tokar (Peter Tokar), great niece, Kathryn Tokar, to whom she was godmother, and sisters DeeAnne Fusek Borden of Bay Village, Ohio, and Eileen Fusek Korach of Tampa, Florida. She was a cherished aunt to; Charles Brown Jr., Dennis Brown, Janet Fusek Carey, Barbara Fusek Kershner, Karen Korach, Thomas Welsch, Shauna Fusek Benson, Michael Fusek, David Fusek, and Edward Haufe, Jr. In lieu of flowers, please dedicate a prayer or mass to Matilda. Donations to St. Jude Hospital for Children may also be made to 262 Danny Thomas Pl. Memphis, Tennessee 38108, or at www.stjude.org. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 525 Dover Center Rd, Bay Village, Ohio 44140 at 11am, with a gathering in the church to celebrate Matilda's life one hour prior.
