Mary was a Padua High School graduate, class of 1988. Mary went on to earn her Masters Degree in Special Education at the University of Toledo. Teaching full time, then raising her family, and more recently working as a substitute librarian and teacher, Mary touched the lives of many children who benefited from her love and patience.
Mary met her husband, Chris, in July of 1992 thanks to her sister Carol. They became best friends, dated, and married in September of 1994. Through 22 years of marriage, Chris and Mary are a true example of marital commitment and love.
Mary was a loving and devoted mother to her children. She gave unselfishly in every way she could to provide them with love, support, and encouragement. She had immense pride in each one of them. Chris and Mary have raised three caring and beautiful young women.
Mary has been involved in many, many things over the years. She spread God's word through teaching PSR at St. Albert the Great for many years. She was a committed German Language School volunteer and has been a dedicated Girl Scout Leader. Mary was most definitely a leader, not a follower. Mary liked to have her fun too! Her greatest pleasure was searching for seashells with her family in Cocoa Beach, FL. She truly loved the ocean!
Never was there a more loving and devoted daughter or sister than her family had in her. Mary's work, philanthropy, and family were a huge source of pride for her parents, Tom and Lucia. Mary was a caring aunt to Kara, Denton, Heather, Justin, Karson, Sophia, Ryan, Owen, and Anna. Mary loved to host family gatherings with her extended family, including countless Thanksgivings, Easters, and other holiday functions. She particularly loved creating fun and challenging Easter Egg Hunts for her daughters, nieces, and nephews, which became a family tradition.
There is no person who could have shown greater courage than Mary over the past 7 years. Her diagnosis of Breast Cancer in 2010 brought much pain and suffering, but Mary handled it with more grace and dignity that could ever have been expected.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
