Obituary for Mary Clare Farrar

Independence, Ohio | Age 78

Cherished Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Friend of Many

Obituary

Mary Clare Farrar, 78, of Independence, Ohio passed away on December 23, 2018 from pancreatic cancer.

She was born to parents Vera and Frank Uresh, September 14, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. Mary Clare received her BA in education from St. John's College and her MA in student teacher supervision from Kent State University.

Mary was an avid storyteller and her life gave her many great stories, from buying a 150-year-old home in Peninsula, Ohio to ending her career as director of shareholder relations for Sudbury, Inc. Although Mary worked at many different jobs over her lifetime, none was as important to her as being a mother, and second only to that was her decade spent teaching fifth grade. Mary shared her enthusiasm for literature, poetry, theatre, art, and the natural world with her classes. Several of her students kept in touch with her decades after she left teaching. She was a lifelong learner and intrepid explorer, and enjoyed nothing more than planning outings and adventures.

Mary loved her family and friends. This was never more evident than when she was cooking for them or entertaining, whether she was hosting elaborate trivia parties, frizzling leeks for Thanksgiving, inviting Indonesian families or Russian sailors to dinner, or preparing "mystery meals" for her grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her husband, George Klepacz; by her two daughters, Margaret Farrar (Jeffery Glasen), of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Anne Farrar, of Chaska, Minnesota; and by her three grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Arline Richlovsky, and by many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

The family is grateful for the love and support of so many over the past year, and wishes to thank all of those who cared for Mary during her last days, including the team from Hospice of the Western Reserve. Should friends desire, memorial contributions can be sent to Cleveland's Near West Theatre. www.nearwesttheatre.org Services will be private.
