Obituary for Leslie (nee Krewson) Guice

June 23, 1947 - May 2, 2020
Vermilion, Ohio | Age 72

Loving Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend

Leslie Jean Curtin (Krewson) Guice, 72, passed away peacefully at Kingston of Vermilion Hospice on May 2, 2020. She was born in Chicago, IL, on June 23, 1947, to Keith A. Krewson and Jean (Curtin) Krewson. Born two months prematurely, Leslie was a fighter from birth who managed multiple health issues throughout her life with grace, fortitude and humor.

Leslie spent her early years in Illinois, Ohio, New York, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. At age 14, she decided to move to Millis, MA, to live with her father and step-mother, becoming the "big" sister in a blended family. In high school Leslie was the editor of the school newspaper and co-editor of the class yearbook, and has fond memories of wearing beautiful gowns to her proms made for her by her step-mother, Peggy. At graduation she received the Danforth Award for Leadership. Leslie attended Fisher Junior College in Boston, and upon graduating in 1967 had already been hired by the college as the administrative secretary to the Dean of Admissions.

Leslie had a long career as an executive administrative secretary to several high level personnel, work that she dearly loved and excelled at. For many years she was the Executive Secretary to the Corporate Controller for the Foxboro Company. She also served as Office Manager for Laidlaw Waste Systems in Attleboro, MA. Her last position was as Executive Secretary to the Director of Anesthesiology at Roger Williams Hospital in Providence, RI.

In 1970 Leslie married Walter H. MacInnis. They experienced the heartache of multiple, late-term miscarriages before she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Bradford, on March 7, 1974. Leslie found great joy in being a mother to Brad, and considered him to be her greatest achievement.

Religious faith always played a vital role in Leslie's life, and in 2003, she converted to Catholicism and was confirmed by Fr. Albert Krupp. She has been a member of the St. Agnes Parish Church in Elyria, OH, since that time. She has been a Lector and an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, and served on the RCIA team.

Leslie was also instrumental in reviving group recitation of the rosary after daily mass, viewings, and funerals. She also restarted the St. Agnes Legion of Mary, clustering with Elyria's St. Judes Parish Legion. During her years as President, she had the yearly ceremony of the Renewal of Vows to Our Lady, which is shared with the Sacred Heart Parish of Lorain, done bilingually (Spanish/English) by all for the first time, including the clergy.

Leslie leaves her beloved son, Bradford Keith MacInnis; her loving and devoted sister, Lindsey Krewson Hughes, who cared for her during the last period of her life; brother-in-law, Eldred Hughes; niece Heather and nephew Jason; sisters Susan Olmsted (Adin Gilman), Kathryn Olmsted (John Leggett), and sister-in-law, Pamela Olmsted. She also leaves her blessed and beloved friend and former husband, Albert L. (Bud) Guice, Sr.; and her longest and dearest friend, Karen Anjoorian; along with several grand-nieces and nephews, and many cousins in Freeport, OH.

Leslie was pre-deceased by her mother, Jean Curtin Krewson, in 1994; her father, Keith A. Krewson, in 2018; her step-mother, Margaret (Peggy) Krewson, also in 2018; and brothers Richard Olmsted in 2011, and Randall Keith Krewson in 1983.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Leslie's memory may be made to the St. Agnes Parish Church, Kingston of Vermilion Hospice, or the local chapter of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

A requiem mass will be held for Leslie at the St. Agnes Parish Church in Elyria at a date as yet to be determined.
