Obituary for Lawrence Holzworth

August 30, 1936 - September 6, 2019
Westlake, Ohio | Age 83

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Friend

Lawrence Holzworth, 83 of Westlake, OH passed away Friday, September 6, 2019 after a sudden illness/AML. Lawrence chose to spend his last days in the family home with "his girls", daughter Lori and granddaughters Marissa and Zoe. Lawrence was born August 30, 1936 in Jackson, MI to parents Anthony and Elsa Holzworth.

Lawrence raised his family in Lakewood, then in Avon Lake, OH where all four of his children graduated high school (Go Shoreman). His wife of 60 years, Beverly (nee Hyder) preceded him in death by 2 ½ years; and he continued to mourn her passing. In his earlier years, Lawrence was a licensed barber. He was then employed by the Ford Motor Company at the Lorain Assembly plant where he would remain for several decades; and he was active in the UAW.
It was during his early days at Ford that Lawrence became born again and Faith became the central supporting pillar of his life. He was a man of strong faith, beliefs and convictions. While he was loved and will be missed, the family finds comfort knowing our beloved "Papa" was spared the worst of the suffering, and taken swiftly into the arms of our Lord and Savior, to be comforted until we meet again.

Lawrence is survived by his four children, Douglas (Ann), David (Margaret), Daniel (Holly) and Lori; 9 grandchildren, Israel (Jessica), Christopher (Kara), Katie, Matthew (Bethany), Marissa, Alexander, Zoe, Abbie and Alexis; 3 great-grandchildren Jordyn, Asher and Grayson; 2 sisters Janet Grabarz and Joanne England; and a third sister Eleanor St. John that preceded him in death.

As the family grieves, no celebration of life will be scheduled at this time. Lawrence lived simple, but his gifts were generous. The family suggests, and it would please Lawrence to know that donations were made to the Smile Train 633 Third Ave, 9th Floor, NY, NY 10017 or at ; Christian Aid Ministries Bibles for the World P.O. Box 360, Berlin, OH 44160 or at or at the T.J. Carrie Foundation at

The family offers special thanks to Reynard and Gloria from Caregiver Services; Mari from Hospice of the Western Reserve; and Lori's co-workers and employer's during this most difficult time for their understanding and prayers. To Anne Begley…eternal thanks. 440-933-3202
