Obituary

Jerome (Jerry) Kay, age 70, passed away on December 22, 2020. Dear husband of 43 years to Ellen (nee Fritzky); proud father of Jeffrey (Angela) and Laurie Philips (Matt); beloved grandfather of Thomas Guenther and many grandpets; lifelong friend of Bud and Betty Bednar; caring brother-in-law of Don Fricky (Betty, deceased) and Joseph Fritzky (Marusia). Preceded in death by his parents and brother, James (Marianne). Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force as an avionic sensor systems specialist and electronics mechanic in the early 1970s. He worked as an electronic technician at SK Wellman/Carlisle Brake and Friction in Solon, Ohio for 40 years. Jerry was an avid astronomer, photographer and eclectic music lover. Jerry's favorite places were Letchworth State Park and the Finger Lakes Region of New York where he would vacation with his family every summer, taking pictures and drinking great wine. Because Jerry loved dogs, especially his loyal dog Winnie and his granddog Philbert, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Cleveland Animal Protective League, 1729 Willey Avenue, Cleveland, OH 44113 or the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter, 9500 Sweet Valley Drive Valley View, Ohio 44125Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin of Tours Church, 14600 Turney Rd., Maple Heights, OH 44137, Monday December 28 at 1:00pm. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
