Janet L. Click (nee Zaleski) 80, of Rocky River, passed away January 3, 2018 at Fairview Hospital, Cleveland.
Mrs. Click was born October 8, 1937 in Wheeling, WV and had lived in Rocky River for over 40 years. Janet was a graduate of Mount DeChantal Catholic Girls Academy and continued her education at West Virginia University, where she was a member of Alphabet Delta Pi sorority and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She was an English and Art teacher at North Ridgeville City Schools, as well as the cheerleading coach. As she was raising her children she retired from being a full time teacher, but continued in the classroom as a substitute teacher for the Rocky River and Lakewood School Districts. Once her children were grown Janet began a second career with Higbee's which would become Dillard's Department Store in Westgate, while there she was a fashion stylist, specializing in Liz Claiborne and Tommy Hilfiger. She was honored by Dillard's as a PaceSetter, top in sales each year until her retirement. Mrs. Click was an accomplished painter working in oils as well as a studied pianist. She was very involved in her daughter's lives in many ways including becoming a Brownie and Girls Scout Leader and room mother. She was described by her family as social and outgoing, she never met a stranger. She left everyone she met with an excitement for life. Janet attended St. Christopher Catholic Church, Rocky River and was a member of the Rocky River and Lakewood Junior Women's Clubs. Janet is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jeffrey R. Click, daughters Amanda L. DiBenedetto (Tony) of Rocky River and Jennifer L. Gainey (Michael) of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by grandchildren Dante, Evangelina, Spartico DiBenedetto and Abram and Elijah Gainey and brothers Col. (ret.) Andrew A. Zaleski and Dr. Robert J. Zaleski. She is preceded in death by her parents Andrew Aloysius and Clara Gertrude (nee Dombrowski) Zaleski. Friends may call at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME 163 AVON-BELDEN RD, AVON LAKE, Saturday, January 6, from 10:00am - 11:30am with the funeral service at 11:30am, with Fr. Ron Wearsh of St. Joseph Church, Avon Lake and Pastor Michael Bartolone. Interment will follow at Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon. 440-933-3202
