Obituary

James R. Rouhier, 68 of Sheffield Lake, passed away at home, Friday, September 8, 2017 form pancreatic cancer. Mr. Rouhier was born October 15, 1948 in Canton and had lived in Sheffield Lake for 41 years.

He was a 1967 graduate of Lincoln High School, Canton. Following graduation Jim enlisted in the United States Navy. He earned an associate degree from the University of Akron and worked 37 years for Diebold Corporation as an electronic technician. In his retirement he continued to put his skills to use working as technician at Cedar Point, repairing arcade machines.

Jim was a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sheffield Lake. He was active in the formation of the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Youth Soccer Association and the Brookside High School soccer team. He was a FIFA and Firelands Soccer Referee. Jim's dedication to community and schools was also evident as a member of the Brookside High School football "chain gang", he was a basketball timekeeper and ticket taker at most sporting events. Jim also chaperoned, while his children were members of the Brookside High School marching band.

Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Cindy and children Melissa Rouhier of Sheffield Lake, Matthew Rouhier (Kerry) of Mt. Vernon, Megan Rouhier of Sheffield Lake, Maureen Allen (Billy) of Sheffield Lake and Madeline Rouhier of Sheffield Lake. He is also survived by grandchildren Brianna, Elijah, Emma, Zachary, Lucas, Aaron Jr., and Billy III. He is preceded in death by a grandson Noah, parents Eugene F. and Ruth S. (nee Jenner) Rouhier and sister Judy Rinehart.

Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake, Monday, September 11 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00pm. A prayer service will be at the funeral home, Tuesday at 9:15am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Church, 715 Harris Rd., Sheffield Lake at 10:00am. Fr. Stephen Shields of the church will officiate. Interment will be at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, with full military honors, Wednesday at 10:00am.
