They moved to Dallas, TX where Jim worked as the Regional Food Manager for JC Penny until 1983 when he moved the family to Cleveland, OH where he served as Food Service Director for the Higbee Company. He continued to work in the food industry until his retirement and received many accolades and awards for his contributions and dedication to the restaurant industry. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Ruth McConnell, and his beloved wife of 50 years, Judy Wald McConnell. Jim also leaves behind countless friends that were as family to him.

He was a lifelong proud Irishman and an avid Oklahoma State University fan and supporter who sported his OSU gear with great pride. He loved his synagogue and was a devoted member of the B'nai Jeshurun Congregation. He was known among all of his family, friends, colleagues and organizations as a culinary genius who could effortlessly feed masses of people. He had a heart for service and helping others that was unparalleled.

Jim was an integral part of our world but above all else, he was deeply devoted to being an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather and friend. Every wonderful story we have written included our father. He was an amazing voice that was filled with encouragement, wisdom, strength and love. There was an old country song that contained the lyrics, "Everything he gave, took all he had." Never have truer words been spoken. James Moore McConnell II set the bar high and will be greatly missed.
