James "Jim" H. Shane, 91 of Avon Lake, formerly of Bay Village passed away peacefully on Monday, October 5, 2020. He was born December 2, 1928 in Mechanicstown, OH to parents Harry and Frances (nee Kean) Shane.

Jim is a United States Marine Veteran. He grew up in Carrolton, OH where he participated in sports, choir, marching band and occasionally theatre. He received his bachelor's degree for welding engineering from Ohio State University. He worked for DuPont for several years in South Carolina and Connecticut before starting his own company in Lowell, MA. The company sold to Union Carbide where he worked until he retired. He was a member of the Avon Lake Presbyterian Church. Jim's favorite pastime had always been golfing. He also had an artistic streak and enjoyed painting and metal lathe work. More recently he liked a good back scratching. He will be dearly missed by his family, care givers and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife Jean (nee Tillman) of 72 years; loving children Terri Kmieck (Jack) and Michael (Suzanne); cherished grandchildren Christopher, Patrick (Karrie), Katie Kmieck and Jordan Lyle (Stan); dear great-grandchildren Nora and Scarlett Lyle; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Frances (nee Kean) Shane and his brothers Bill and Tom.
