James Frederick Vacha, 75, of Catawba Island, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Sarasota, FL. James was born on November, 14, 1942. He graduated from Parma Senior High School in 1961 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After 20+ years as a self-employed business owner, Jim was happy to retire 10 years ago giving him time to enjoy his family, friends and hobbies. He was an avid lover of classic cars, swap meets and car shows, and a very active member in the Erie Shore Cruisers Classic Car Club. In the community, Jim was an integral part of his housing association as a Trustee, as well as the Chairman of the Compliance Committee, and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge in Port Clinton, Ohio. As a snowbird traveling to Florida each winter, Jim was active on the weekly work crew, a volunteer at many clubhouse activities and a member of the Bocce Ball team. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Erie, and spending time with his family and friends in both Ohio and Florida. Jim is survived by his loving wife Katherine (nee Glaze); children Heidi Langer (Paul), Lisa Forman, Jaimie Livorse (Joe); grandchildren Kyle, Allyson, Joelle, Maxwell, Jillian, Jordyn, Madyson, Hayley and Olivia; and brother Don; Jim was preceded in death by his father Frederick; mother Olive (nee Peddie); brother Frederick; and brother Louis. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake on Sunday, January 28 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm.
