Obituary

ISABELLE B. ANDERSON (nee Beattie), age 96 of Strongsville, beloved wife for 62 years of the late Jon Gilbert Anderson passed away November 14, 2017. Loving mother of Janet, Nancy Wilkinson (Patrick), Judy Sekerak (Rob), and David (Carol); cherished grandmother of Catherine Wilkinson, Jenny and Jay Sekerak, Stephen Anderson, Emily Donlan (Lucas), Laura and Sarah Anderson; great-grandmother of Melanie Donlan; dear sister of the late Robert E Beattie; loving daughter of the late John Carlisle and Anna Gallagher Beattie and friend of many.
Isabelle graduated from West Newton High School. She was active in Girl Scouts, achieving their highest award, The Golden Eaglet. She graduated from Seton Hill College in 1943 with a BS in Home Economics. She went on to complete a Master's Degree in Nutrition at Ohio University in 1948. It was at OU that she met her husband who served as a judge for her graduate project on the freezing of cake. Jon and Isabelle were married on June 18, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church of West Newton, PA. Soon after, Jon accepted a position as Shop and Mechanical Drawing teacher with the Cleveland Lutheran High School Association where he taught for 39 years. They were active members of the Saint Mark Lutheran Church of Cleveland where Isabelle taught Sunday School and served with the Lutheran Women's Mission League. Their marriage was blessed with four children. Isabelle continued her interest in nutrition and, after raising their family, accepted a position with Cuyahoga Community College. She taught Food and Nutrition on all three campuses and retired from CCC in 1990. She went on to teach nutrition and weight loss classes for retirees in Sarasota, Florida during the winter months until 2017. In her later years, she attended Royal Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home 7501 Ridge Road, Parma OH from 1:00 PM Sunday November 19, 2017 until the time of the service at 4:00 PM. Interment at West Newton Cemetery, West Newton, PA. Memorials may be forwarded to St. Mark Lutheran Church, 4464 Pearl Rd., Cleveland OH 44109 or to the local chapter of Home Economists in Home and Community
