Obituary

Irene Cotton (nee Mydlinski) was born on January 14, 1927, in Solvay, New York to Felix and Rosalia Mydlinski. Irene was a smart, driven, competitive lady who had a life-long love for learning. She earned her undergrad from Syracuse University and received her PhD. from the University of Texas at Austin. She translated her love of learning into a love for teaching, working as a college professor at LCCC for over twenty years, teaching Microbiology and other science courses.
Irene and her beloved husband, James, raised their family in Westlake. She was a member of the Westlake Junior Women's Club, and St. Ladislas Church, where she served as a Eucharist Minister and Prayer Chain Coordinator. Irene enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She died peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2020, after a brief illness. She was 93.
She leaves behind her four children, Barbara Cotton, Christopher (Kathy), Kim Justice (Mark), and James G. (Wandee); 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James; a granddaughter, Nancy; her brothers Joseph, Raymund, Edmund, Henry; and sisters Hedwig "Joan" Galasky and Anna.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, 10:00am, February 15, at St. Ladislas Church, 2345 Bassett Rd, Westlake, OH 44145 (meet at church).
