Obituary

Eugene J. Bizek, age 78, of North Ridgeville, passed away after a 2 ½ year battle with pancreatic cancer early Tuesday morning, January 5, 2021. Eugene was born in Romulus, MI to the late Edmund and Irene (nee Robakiewicz) Bizek.
Gene played in marching band and semi-professionally in weddings and Polka Bands throughout his high school years. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to play instruments and listen to many genres of music - from Bach to rock, and everything in between.
It was in Michigan where he met and married the love of his life, Virginia (nee Dewhirst). They soon moved to Big Rapids where Gene graduated from Ferris State College (now University). He worked for Ford Motor Company for 37 years. A career move within Ford caused him to transplant his family to Ohio, coincidentally during the blizzard of 1978.
Gene's other interests included coin collecting, automobiles, puzzles (especially Sudoku and crosswords), and golf. He would take his kids to the driving range to hit a bucket of balls or to the putt-putt course just to get some practice without having to leave his family to play an actual round of golf.
Growing up in a hunting family, Gene enjoyed the outdoors. Although the thrill of the hunt was more often a walk in the woods, he enjoyed watching and listening to nature from the serenity of his blind, or spending time with family and friends at the hunting camp, rather than a prized buck.
If asked what his greatest accomplishments were, he would say his children. Although touched by that sentiment, his children know him to be much more. A quiet man of faith with a desire to travel and a love of music, coin collecting, sports and the outdoors.
What Gene enjoyed most of all was family. He never passed an opportunity to drive "back home" for holidays, family events, parties or just to visit. He was a man selflessly devoted to his family. He made each child feel as if they were his favorite.
Gene liked to have fun, and no one was exempt from his gentle teasing. We will miss his jokes, quick quips, sharp wit, and puns.
Gene leaves his beloved wife of 54 years, Ginny; children Carmen Matz (Brian), Theresa Bizek, AnnMarie Martin (Ron), MaryBeth Eddins, Kathleen Kilpatrick (Brian "KP"), Daniel (Stacey), Erin Kobie (Zach); grandchildren James, Joseph, Isadora, Stephen (fiancé Leanne Tang), Jeremiah, Dominic, Tori, Marielle, Maverick, Ellie, Callahan, and Bodi; in-laws Theresa Bizek, Carmen and Jim Sigler, Dolores and Mike Adrounie, Cecile and Stuart Sacks; cousins; and many nieces and nephews
Gene was proceeded in death by his parents, infant son Eugene John, brother Edmund, sister Joann Gates, and in-laws Joseph Palma and Theresa (nee Cravero) Dewhirst, Robert Gates and Mike and Kathy Dewhirst.
