Obituary

Elsa Leonora Walsh (nee Robotham), 97 who had lived in several of the far west suburbs of Cleveland throughout her life , passed away Monday, May 15, 2017 at The Harbor Court, Rocky River, OH from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Mrs. Walsh was born April 1, 1920 in Norwich Norfolk, England and immigrated to the United States following WWII.

While in England, Mrs. Walsh worked at Caley's, a chocolate factory, which was bought by Rowntree's, making candy, then during the war she taught titled ladies how to cook. In the United States, she worked for Emmons Jewelry, hosting home sales parties. She worked for Dr. Darwin Smith at the Center Ridge Rd. Animal Hospital as the 1st licensed Veterinary Technician in Ohio. She retired from working life, once again making candy, this time at Sells Candies in Bay Village. Mrs. Walsh was also a licensed realtor.

Mrs. Walsh very much enjoyed cooking and baking and was a member of the Bay Village Gourmet Club. She also sewed, knitted and participated in those activities with various groups. Mostly, though it was tending to her flower garden, especially her beautiful roses that gave her the greatest joy as she passed the time. She was a member of the 8th Church, West 25th Street Cleveland and most recently Church of the Redeemer, Westlake, where she was a member of the choir and helped in the kitchen.

Mrs. Walsh is survived by her husband of 70 years, William T. whom she married, May 29, 1947; children Trevor M. Walsh (Rosemary) of Tumwater, WA, Terance R. Walsh (Linda) of Oregon, OH, Tyrone W. Walsh (Lynn) of Fairview Park, OH, Todd C. Walsh (Christine) of Thorton-Le-Clay, York, UK and Glynis E. Sapp (Gary) of North Olmsted, OH. Other survivors include 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and siblings Conway Robotham (Muriel) and Hazel Bye both in England. She is preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Emma (nee Leverett) Robotham and siblings Beatty, Ethel, Stanley, Rose P. and Rose V..

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be private at Elmhurst Park Cemetery, Avon.
