Obituary

Eligah J. Morris, 61, of Elyria passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center. He was born in Elyria on May 25, 1957.
Eligah attended Elyria West High School where he excelled and became an avid wrestler and played on the football team. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his country as a Track Vehicle Mechanic in Company A, 4th Battalion, 54th Infantry from 1977 through 1979, which earned him an honorable discharge in 1983. After his deployment in Korea, Eligah returned to Elyria where he landed a job in the construction industry where he learned many trades within the business. He loved to work with his hands, his time in the Army contributed to his passion for cars, nature (fishing, hunting, camping) and being the grill master for all the family barbeques. Eligah lived life to the fullest, with a hearty infectious laugh, killer smile, flashing those deep dimples, while walking to the beat of his very own drum. Eligah attended church at Mount Zion Baptist Church and at Bethany Baptist Church where he wrote a poem titled "Time" where he stated "My past is redeemed; my presence makes sense and my future is secure."
Eligah is survived by his children: Laura Peery of Blacksburg, VA; Takika Pierson of Pittsburg, PA; Eric Henry of Lorain, E'Leon Henry of Elyria, Darsel Morris of Elyria, Jimmie L. Fenderson-Morris of Clinton, MD; Elijah Morris III of Elyria, Jotrell Henry of Columbus, James Tarrant of Elyria, Ezra Williams of Elyria, and Tyria Dower of Lorain. Many grandchildren and one great grandchild. Siblings: Gloria Jackson, Viola Edwards, Toria Morris-Allen, Father Harold P. Jackson, Aunt Harriet Morgan, Uncle Jimmie Harvey, and Uncle Gene Harvey.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eligah Morris and Iola (nee Harvey) Morris; siblings Barbara Jean Arnold, Harrison Jackson, Harold P. Jackson, Huey Morris, Lashelle Sweatt, Hillary Morris, Connie Robles and granddaughter Shakyla N. Henry.
The Viewing will be on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Funeral service will follow at 11a.m. -1 p.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 6234 West River Road North, Elyria. Reverend Calvin Currie will officiate. Interment will be at Brookdale Cemetery.
