Obituary for David Dangerous Dave Nekvinda

September 2, 1942 - July 8, 2020
Parma, Ohio | Age 77

Beloved Husband and Father, Loving Grandfather, Dear Brother, Cherished Uncle and Friend

DAVID "DANGEROUS DAVE" P. NEKVINDA, age 77 of Parma. Beloved husband of Barbara Nekvinda (nee Shantery) for 50 years. Devoted father of Christopher Nekvinda; loving grandfather of Quentin and Patrick Nekvinda; dear brother of Judith Green (Keith), James Guenther (deceased) and Paul "Butch" Nekvinda (Judith); dearest brother-in-law of Jennie Shantery; cherished uncle of Lisa Taranto, Anne Marie Green, Megan Rea, Samantha Landwehr and Jamie Guenther; best friend of Wilson.

Dave graduated from Benedictine in 1961 and immediately joined the Army. Upon returning, he met Barb and they were married, resumed his business selling beef at The New Central Market and stayed until 1986 when plans for Jacob's Field (now Progressive Field) were being finalized. So he crossed the Lorain Carnegie bridge and offered his services at The West Side Market where he, again, nurtured life long friendships with vendors as well as customers. Dave worked at Ehrnfelt's, Vince's Beef and lastly at Lance's Beef. He loved the camaraderie and when he finally hung up his cleaver, he spent more time perching in Lake Erie, golfing, reading and pulling every weed he could find at home. His only wish, like so many, was to watch the Browns win the Super Bowl. His house was Brownstown, featuring books on Paul Brown and a cherished Jim Brown autographed football. He had many diverse interests ranging from Ancient Aliens to the Kennedy Assassination to the paranormal. He and his wife, Barb, enjoyed trips to Europe, the Dominican Republic, Alaska, and driving out west to visit his brother and sister and their families. Closer to home, he enjoyed driving down to Athens, Georgia to visit with Chris and grandsons, Patrick and Quentin. But it was Wilson, his 13 year old rescue Morkie that gave him great joy. He legitimately earned the "Dangerous Dave" moniker by his son and his friends. Shooting straight, he gave his opinion and did his best to make it yours. You always knew where you stood with Dave-brutally honest, at times, but if he became your friend, you couldn't ask for, or want, anyone better. To say he will be missed is an understatement.

Passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020. Memorials may be forwarded to the Northeast Ohio SPCA Shelter and Clinic, 9555 Brookpark Rd, Parma, OH 44129.
