Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother

Obituary

Curtis Carmen Beard, was born to the late Hatton, Jr. and Luanna Belle Beard, June 5, 1938 in Nashville, Tennessee. God has spoken; Our all wise and loving God called Saturday, July 13, 2019 for this one to be present with Him.
Curtis was raised in a close loving home and learned to respect, honor, and cherish his family and friends at any early age. Curtis joined the body of believers as an altar boy at St. Mary's Church in Elyria. He attended Elyria High School and continued his education earning a bachelor's degree. After graduation, he worked for the Ohio Highway Patrol and was a supervisor at General Motors.
Curtis met his Forever Love Mary when he noticed her car stalled on the side of the road. In an act of chivalry … "sit in my car while I repair yours" was his remark. That began a love relationship of 42 years which family and friends all admired and were inspired.
His hobbies included collecting guns, model planes, ships, and trains. He loved riding motorcycles with family, building things with his hands (car, boat, and carpentry). He was a successful artist, loved dogs, and fishing.
Curtis was a devoted family man and wonderful friend. We take comfort knowing we will see him again in the presence of our Lord. He was preceded in death by his Forever Love, Wife of 42 years, Mary; parents, Hatton Beard, Jr. and Luanna Belle Huffman Beard; brothers Charles Beard, Carlton Beard; son, John Lawrence, Jr.; daughter Vertina Lawrence.
He leaves waiting to see him in paradise, his children by marriage, Carol (Cornelius) Cartharn, Atlanta, Georgia, Tony (Brenda) Lawrence, Elyria, Tybina Lawrence, Atlanta, Georgia, Sharon Lawrence, Elyria, Javona Lawrence, the granddaughter he and his forever love, Mary raised on their own; adopted son, Timothy Beard, Elyria; foster sons, Larry Bowie and William Jackson; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sisters, Carolyn Beard Sales, Carryn Beard Capers, and Corrine Beard Parks, all from Elyria; several friends and family.
Though he is absent from his body, we know he is present with the Lord and we shall all see him again in our reunions in Paradise. Take your rest now Curtis. Join your Forever Love, papa, brother, uncle, family, and friend, Curtis Beard, until we meet in His presence, we love you!
