Charles Lewis Walker, 88 of Avon Lake since 1963, formerly of Wellston passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 following a brief illness. 1 Thess 4: 13-14, And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died. Charles was born on January 5, 1929 in Wellston, OH, and served in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He began work at a coal mine in Wellston, and then later went on to work at Danco Metal Products first as a welder and then in maintenance, retiring in 1988 after 25 years. Charles was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of American Legion Post 211 in Avon Lake. Charles is survived by children Mark L. Walker (Laura) of North Ridgeville and Lisa Faye Garlington (Anthony) of Avon Lake; grandchildren Ryan Valaitis and Olivia Garlington; and sister-in-law Ardith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Helen Jo (nee Earls); parents Oscar G. and Garnet Faye (nee Ingalls) Walker; and brother Gene Walker.
