Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather

Carl Careful Edward Lowe, II of Siberia, Esquire – August 22, 1946 – December 18, 2020

Carl was born in Conway, Arkansas, to Carl Sr. and Mary Corine (nee Mills). He resided in Rogers, Arkansas, most of his childhood. His father passed when he was 10 years old, and his mother passed when he was 16 years old. Life certainly wasn't easy for Carl, especially after the death of his parents. He moved to Florida, New Mexico then back to Arkansas where he enlisted in the Navy on his 17th birthday. After his naval service, he landed in California. On one amazing day in the Summer of '69, he was introduced to the love of his life Mary Anne by a mutual friend. No doubt, it was love at first sight. Mary Anne came back to Ohio, and Carl soon followed; marrying in July of 1970. They started their family and eventually settled in Avon Lake in the Rom family home. Carl was an Iron Worker Crew Chief at J&L/LTV Steel for 30 years. After retirement, Carl worked for the Avon Lake City Schools and The City of Avon Lake until he suffered a stroke in 2012.

Carl was a high-spirited man who loved to have good times. When he wasn't working you could find him at the local ball field playing on various softball teams, or taking crazy adventures across the country with Mary Anne. He loved to travel as much as possible, and he lovingly restored his 1950 Ford truck. He loved coaching his children's T-Ball and little league teams and being outside as much as possible. He was happiest when he was barefoot in the grass on a summer day spending time with his beloved grandchildren, making homemade ice-cream or taking care of his lawn (aka shoveling acorns or snow blowing). His greatest joy was taking his grandkids for a ride in his truck for a frosty and fries and a stop at the lake. Carl made friends wherever he went. He would help anyone with anything, and if he didn't know how to help he would figure it out. Everyone who knows Carl has a great "Carl Lowe" story! You knew him by his intense blue eyes and his heartfelt stories. His 26 years in AA blessed him with the gift of fellowship, mentorship and faith in a higher power.

Carl passed away peacefully after a short battle with COVID-19. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children. He is survived by his amazing wife of 50 years Mary Anne (Rom), his four children Anne Michelle, Dawn (Jeff), David and Laura (Ryan) and his beloved grandchildren Brooke (Jacob), Austin (Christina), Lincoln, Korinne, Tria, Isabelle, Kenya, Myles, Katie, Anja, Laura, Jeremy and Zelli, his sister Carolyn and his brother Jim, as well as his cherished brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, his guardian Jack Boyd, his best friend Larry Martin, his brother-in-law and partner in crime Frank Rom, Jr., his daughter-in-law Erica Backman, his father-in-law Frank Rom, Sr., and his brother-in-law Paul Rom.
