Obituary

Calvin B. Candisky, husband of the late Mary Alice Candisky, died peacefully with family on Sunday, October 8, at Sunrise of Rocky River. He was 82. Cal was born on October 3, 1935 in Paramus, New Jersey, and graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1957. He served two years in the U.S. Army and was stationed near St. Louis, Mo., where he met Mary Alice. After marrying in New York City, the couple lived in Paramus until moving to Bay Village, Ohio, where they raised their family. The couple later lived in Chicago and returned to the Cleveland area in 1993 when Cal retired from a career in credit management. Cal enjoyed music, loved to golf, bowl and was a lifelong baseball fan, devoted to the Brooklyn Dodgers as a boy and later the Cleveland Indians. He shared his love of sports with his daughters and grandchildren and enjoyed attending Indians games. Cal is survived by daughters Catherine LaLonde (Brent) of Worthington, Ohio; Lisa Clement (Timothy) of Solon, Ohio; and Caryn Candisky of Rocky River, Ohio; grandchildren Carolyn and David LaLonde and Daniel, Audrey, Elise and Matthew Clement; and many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice; parents Calvin and Emily; and siblings Doris Woardell, Elliott Thomson, Mildred Rea and Anne Scott. The family extends special thanks to staff of Sunrise of Rocky River and Cypress Hospice for their loving care.
