Obituary

Betty K. Blue, Avon, Ohio 1924-2019
On July 31, 2019, the Blue family lost a bright beacon of light. Betty Kuhlman Blue rejoined her husband, James, who had passed away three months prior to her brief and brave battle against breast cancer. Betty and Jim were married for 72 years. They raised three children; Thomas (Diana), Barbara Glaros (Spiro), and Donald (Janice). They enjoyed their five grandchildren: Laura Blue (Don Stanko), Elizabeth Blue ( Andrew Mercer), Leslie Strader (Adam Strader), David Glaros and Lauren Blue; and three great-grandchildren: Madison Stanko Blue, Harrison Strader and Rosalie Strader.
Betty lived life fearlessly, with a smile and positive outlook in even the most challenging of circumstances. She role-modeled love, loyalty and academic excellence. Betty earned an undergraduate degree from Barnard and a Masters degree in Biology from Purdue University during a time period when women seldom reached such levels of academic achievement
Betty and Jim were loved by many, as they were loyal friends to all. They were well known to the members of the West Shore Unitarian Universalist Church. Per Betty's request, a combined urn will be taken to a family plot in Montezuma, Indiana where family members will gather to say their final goodbyes. Betty and Jim will be greatly missed.
