Anne Rachel Reinwald, a longtime resident of Scarsdale, NY passed away September 18th, 2020 in Rocky River, Ohio. She was 94.

Anne was born in Long Island City, NY in 1926, the second oldest of six children. Her parents were Italian immigrants from a small town near Naples. She graduated as Valedictorian from Long Island City High School in 1944. While in High School she was employed at a dry cleaner shop. She attended the City College of NY at night, while working full time as a bookkeeper. She transferred to Hunter College as a full-time student while continuing to work as a bookkeeper and at the dry cleaner's evenings and on Saturdays. She graduated from Hunter College in 1949 with a B.A. degree with a major in physical and health education, and a minor in biology. While working as a teacher she continued studying education at night and received her M.A. in education in 1951.

Anne taught in the New York City school system for twenty-five years and was loved by and dedicated to her students. She taught at Elmore Ellsworth Junior High School in the Bronx, Sarah Lane High School, Bayside High School, Jamaica High School, Junior High School 126, Grover Cleveland High School, and Francis Lewis High School in Queens, NY, and Walton High School in Bronx, NY. She took a sabbatical from teaching to care for her children from 1962 until 1971, and retired from teaching in 1983. She later worked as a real estate agent in Scarsdale for several more years.

She married the love of her life, Charles Reinwald, in 1961, and moved to Scarsdale, NY in 1964 where she raised her three children and lived for over 50 years. Her husband passed away in 2011.

In earlier years, in addition to teaching, Anne was active in the community and volunteered at the Scarsdale Women's Club. She played in the town tennis league, was an avid gardener, and enjoyed watercolor picture painting. After retiring from teaching, she divided her time between her homes in Scarsdale, NY and Tequesta, Florida. Later she stayed with children, and then stayed at assisted living facilities in Massachusetts, NY, and Ohio.

Anne was sister to Rachel Dispirito (Frank) and Frank Miro (Joan). Brothers Carmine Thomas (Delia), and Louis Miro (Jean), and a sister Mary Pitteli (Edward) have passed away previously.

Anne was a loving mother to Charles Reinwald, Jr. (Sarah), Lisa Silverman (Bob) and Andrea Dabbar (Paul) and a loving grandmother to Andrew, David, and Samantha Silverman and Katie, and Will Dabbar. She was a caring friend and kept strong ties to those she taught with, friends, and family members until the end.
