Loving Husband and Father

Obituary

On Saturday, March 27, 2021, Dr. A. Peter Paladin, Jr., M.D., beloved Husband, Father, and Pediatrician to a generation of families in Northeast Ohio, passed away at age 76.

Peter was born on June 16, 1944 in Albany, NY to his parents Arnold Peter Paladin, Sr. and Gertrude (nee Tryon) Paladin. He graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1966. Received his medical degree from State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center (Syracuse) in 1970. He then moved to Cleveland, OH, where he practiced as a Pediatrician through 2000. Following retirement he continued to work as a medical practitioner from 2002-2015.

On June 8, 1974, he married Carol (nee Sech); together they raised their daughter, Lisa, and son, Dan.

Peter loved his family and his community. Compelled to service from a young age, Peter was an altar boy, Eagle Scout, and later a Boy Scouts of America Leader. After earning his M.D., Peter became a Fellow in Child Development, a Professor of Pediatrics, and later a Regional Co-Chief of Pediatrics, serving patients at University Hospitals of Cleveland, the Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth Medical Center, Lakewood Hospital, Fairview General Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente. Peter enjoyed model trains and was a member of the Cuyahoga Valley S Gauge Association. He took pride in refurbishing and repairing things around the home, and became skilled in woodworking. In the late 80's, Peter led design and building efforts for a new playground for Dag Hammarskjold Elementary in Parma. He served on the Parma City School Board while his children were in school. Peter also volunteered extensively with humanitarian groups locally and regionally. He shared the joy of life through a quirky sense of humor and endless optimism. He understood that, "The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart." (Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince)

Peter aspired to the fabled and historic legacy of the "paladin", an ancient symbol of heroism and charity.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Gertrude. He is survived by his wife Carol, their two children, Lisa and Dan, and his cousin Mary. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, April 5th, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Busch Funeral Home at 7501 Ridge Rd., Parma, OH 44129.
