Condolence & Memory Journal

To the Day Family. Marcia and I became friends after high school, and as she was about to go to college in Ohio, and I to college in Missouri. One day on each of our summer jobs, she drove up to a worksite in Belmar, New Jersey, and was driving an ice cream truck. Everybody rushed to see the short, pretty blond girl driving. They all ran to see her and played like foolish children, but I waited, and went over when she was alone. I asked her for a fudge sickle, and she said why didn't you come with them, and my reply was that was no way to treat a lady. A lady she was, and our friendship was so special. We would talk for the next couple of summers giving each other updates on our lives. I knew she had met someone at college, and she knew I had a girl for years. We had such wonderful times just talking for she was a girl from affluent Fair Haven, and I a guy down the social ladder from Belmar, however she always treated me as and equal. Our last talk was when she came for a day off from a job in Princeton, as a nanny for the Rosenthal family, and I was on an internship with the NYC Controller, in the park across from the Mayor's Office. My heart breaks for you all at her loss. She was one of the gentlest and kindest people I have ever known in my life. We Irish call our friendship, Anam Cara, soul's friends. My prayers and deepest condolences go to you, and my wish is heaven has already made a special place for her. There are no words to say what a loss to the world she will be. May the Blessed Mother, watch over you and comfort you.

Don and family. I have tremendous memories of Marcia while serving briefly as an interim priest at All Saints many years ago. Our time there was made complete when Marcia and Don visited us in Saskatchewan, Canada, shortly after our return home. She was a joy to us and a person of remarkable faith. May she rest in peace and rise in glory. Christopher Snook, Port Williams, Nova Scotia (Canada)

Jennifer and family,
I had the pleasure of meeting your mom when she was remodeling her kitchen. I felt instantly connected to her. I even bought her Twizzlers :). My heart is breaking for you. She was a wonderful woman. My heartfelt prayers are with you at this most difficult time.

I am shocked to see this notice of Marcia's passing. We met in college and I have some great memories. We lost touch over the years but recently connected through Facebook. I wish we had spoken. She was such a ball of energy and fun. My sympathies and prayers to her family.

Oh my, I am sitting in shock as I learn that Marcia has left us. The last time we spoke, she was warrior-ing through so much. Marcia took my Bereavement course at Kent State after the death of her brother. She would go through the McDonald's drive through and get a hot fudge sundae after class. She was then known as the Hot Fudge Sundae lady. We emailed and processed every class and she was such a delight to know....such great insight and sense of humor. Marcia will be missed as she left a big lasting smile to all who knew her.

Don and family,
Our sincerest condolences as friends and Realtors to you both. We loved helping you sell your former home and purchase your current one and Marcia was a joy to get to know through the many meetings, emails, texts, and long, enjoyable conversations! She was kind, cooperative, funny, and genuine. We talked a few times during her illness -- and she was still positive and sweet as can be. The world will be different without her, but we are glad her illness is over and that she will rest in God's eternal care. Thinking of all of you. With sympathy and prayers, Jane and Dave Kolenda, Century 21 HomeStar

Wanting to express my deepest sympathies to you Don and your entire family for the loss of Marcia. She was so nice when we meet from time to time for family gatherings. I recall her upbeat self and genuine smile about life. May we all remember those fond memories we have once shared with her.

Don, I was shocked to see the obituary for Marcia. Please know she was an amazing person to so many. All Saints was in good hands when she was the Altar Guild member on whom so many relied. Truly a woman of great faith and love for her faith community. I always loved her hat at the monthly food distribution. She continues in my prayers and memory as a strong woman of faith with a great sense of humor.

My heart is heavy in trying to express my feelings about Marcia. She was a person who came once into your life & filled it with constant joy. I have many fond memories of our sharing life together that will remain with me always. She was a soul who cared deeply about everything and helped you along when you needed it. Her skills were amazing from sewing to about laughs when we discussed those topics! Even though life separated us in miles across the country, she was always in my thoughts and I will truly miss her. Her smile & laughter lit up the room. To all of the rest of the Day clan, I hope the good memories will get you through the sorrow.

Quite simply one of the kindest, most positive individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing; though I have not seen her for over 40 years, we kept a friendship alive across the miles. Mostly because, once you meet her, you just never forget the impact she has on your life... And, just knowing that she was somewhere out there being Marcia, somehow made my world a better place.... RIP Sweet Lady......

I didn't know you forever, but it sure felt like I did. You quite quickly became family and will always be. Thanks for all the camping memories and laughs. I miss you already, the world is worse off for not having you here. I love you Marcia. To the rest of the Day family, you are in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers. Thank you for sharing her with the rest of us. I love you all and am just a phone call away.
