Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Jeanne Cook by adding your memories and photos.

Jeanne Eleanor Cook (nee Garn), age 95, beloved wife of 50 years of the late William Austin Cook who passed away in May 2002; loving mother of William Jeffrey Cook (Cynthia), Julie Boatwright (Thomas), and James Cook; devoted grandmother of five and great-grandmother of three. Jeanne grew up in Wadsworth, Ohio, graduated from Hiram College in 1947, married in 1951, and since 1955 lived almost entirely in Parma Heights. In the early 1970's she became interested in doing research on her family tree. She found she greatly enjoyed it and became an enthusiastic researcher and promoter of the field of Genealogy. Up through the early 2000's she was an active member in the Daughters of the American Colonists (DAC), holding a number of positions in the organization over the years. She was also president of the Parma Genealogical Society for several years in the 1990's. Also, with her husband as photographer, Jeanne created a number of slide shows such as "The Cuyahoga Valley," "Old Inns and Taverns," and "Out In The Western Reserve" which she presented all around Northeast Ohio, and which contained songs of her own composition. Jeanne peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2020. A celebration of Jeanne's life will be held on a later date and will be announced. Interment will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Cremation by Busch Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
