Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Bob Leech by adding your memories and photos.

Robert James "Bob" Leech was born on November 2, 1945 and passed away on June 2, 2020. Between these dates Bob lived life to the fullest. Bob grew up with his brother, William (Bill) in the Southside of Cleveland and was a proud Lincoln High School graduate. He married the love of his life, Marilyn Ruth Luecke. Together they shared nearly 55 years of marriage with 3 children and 5 grandchildren to enjoy along the way. His loving wife Marilyn; Mickey (Melody) and their daughters, Meredith and Madeline; Christine Thomas and her daughter Samantha; Robert (Sara) and their children Andrew and Alexandra were the greatest joys of Bob's life.

Bob's strong Christian faith directed his life. He passionately served his heavenly Father through a lifetime of leadership in two Lutheran churches. For the past ten years, Brother Bob served the residents of two local nursing homes by sharing the Word of God during bi-weekly visits. He lived Joshua 24:15, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

Bob served his country in the National Guard, worked as a classified advertising salesman for The Cleveland Plain Dealer, and spent the remainder of his career in various sales positions. He always worked multiple jobs at the same time because of a strong desire to provide for his family. One of his favorite part-time jobs was selling programs at Cleveland Browns games for over 50 years (starting as a young child). Bob was an active member and past-President of the Seven Hills Jaycees and actively served his community as one of the longest serving elected Councilmen in Seven Hills with nearly 3 decades of service. He was fondly known as Councilman Bob.

Bob loved to keep children actively involved in sports. He was instrumental in starting the youth basketball and soccer programs in Seven Hills. For over 30 years, he was a basketball, volleyball and soccer referee as well as a baseball and softball umpire.

Baseball Bob played baseball from early childhood until the pandemic. He loved playing, watching and talking baseball. He played 'hardball' year-round with summers in northeast Ohio and fall & winters in Fort Myers, Florida. He attended +60 World Series games over the past 53 years. He was a life-long Indians fan but loved the New York Yankees. One of his fondest memories was being the winning pitcher in a tournament with his adult sons on Doubleday Field in Cooperstown, New York.

Bob had plans to continue serving his Lord, his family and his community before Jesus called him home. His life was cut short by the Coronavirus (Covid-19). Our family would like to remind everyone to follow safety precautions to protect yourselves and those around you.
