Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister and Friend

Donna M. Schmitz (nee Ware), age 85, of Avon Lake, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019. Donna was born to Fred and Estelle (nee Broski) Ware on November 10, 1933.
Donna graduated from John Marshall High School in 1951. Donna lived in the Cleveland area her entire life. After high school, she worked at Ohio Bell and Chevrolet. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, on Lake Erie, gardening, and worshipping at her church.
In 1955, Donna married the late Alfred Schmitz and was a devoted wife for 57 years. Donna and Al have four surviving children; Pamela LaGorga of Brunswick, Ohio, James Schmitz of Troy, MI, John Schmitz of Houston,TX, and Paul Schmitz of Atlanta, GA.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and brother Albert Ware of Wichita, KS.
She is preceded in death by her brother Warren Ware of Westlake, Ohio
First and foremost, Donna was a kind and loving daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, and grandmother.
She loved genealogy and had an uncanny ability to uncover long missing relatives, researching and creating a wide and deep family tree. In addition to her passion for genealogy, Donna was also an excellent baker and relished the opportunity to bake for and with her family, especially around the holidays. In short, much of her passions revolved around being with and caring for friends and family, both past and present, and it is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to her.
The viewing ceremony will be held at BUSCH FUNERAL HOMES 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Ohio on Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 4-8 pm. Prayers will be Friday, May 10 at 9 am at the Funeral Home followed by Funeral Mass at 10 am will be held at St. Clarence Church 30106 Lorain Ave., North Olmsted.
