I am so sorry to hear of the passing of my Uncle Gene. I have so many fond memories of visiting him and Aunt Helen "upstairs." Christmas Eve was always an especially good and wonderful time. When I was a kid, I thought Uncle Gene and Aunt Helen's attic was a wondrous treasure trove. And I always enjoyed petting and playing with the dogs and getting candy. Of course, the fish fries at the VFW were legendary. It was an almost every Friday evening event... we only had to walk one street over so that was convenient. Later, as an adult, I really enjoyed a fishing trip Uncle Gene took us on, one beautiful sunny day on Lake Erie; I don't think I caught a fish but my sister and others did! Uncle Gene will always hold a warm spot in my heart! Thanks for sharing him all these years.

Gene is my Brother-In-Law Bill's brother. Gene was a caring, gentle, compassionate relative and friend. I've been a fisherman since I was a little boy. But, the first time I was on a boat Walleye fishing was on Gene's boat with Bill. I'll never forget those memories and will always cherish them. I will always remember our talks on fishing at family gatherings.

I was so happy that I was able to take Gene and Bill on Perch trips the last several years with Charter Captains I knew. Especially after Gene sold boat. His boat and fishing were his passion. These trips will always fill my heart with memories.

Kathie and I will always love him and memories of time spent will fill our hearts. Rest in peace and from a Sailor to a Marine "SEMPER FI"

I am so sorry for your loss. Gene was a great man, my dad Mike Wasdovitch and him worked at Republic Steel Mills (LTV) for many years. My dad and Gene were good friends. He was the most kind, hard working man you will ever meet. I met him through my dad when we went to the fish frys at the Strongsville post. He help my husband get a stone in honor of my husband's dad that fought in Korean War for the memorial. I cannot say enought nice things about Gene. He was such a wonderful man. My heart and prayers go out to the family. God bless you......Lori Wasdovitch-Claus
