Tribute & Message From The Family

Beloved Husband, Loving Father, Cherished Grandfather, Loving Brother, Loving Companion

LENVILLE GENE WALLACE, beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Eggleston); loving father of Gary (Kathy); cherished grandfather of Nora, and great-grandfather of David; loving brother of William (Laureen) and the late Calvin (the late Marion); loving companion of 25 years to Ann Soltis; best friend and cousin to the late Bernard Thompson (the late Helen). Gene was born in Talcott, West Virginia. He was a doting, and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Gary traveled with his parents on amazing vacations every summer growing up. Nora has so many wonderful childhood memories of weekends and trips with grandma and grandpa, she was fussed over and indulged in every way. David loved all the time he spent with "grandpa". He worked on the railroad in West Virginia, eventually moving to Cleveland to work at Republic Steel in 1955. He had many lifelong, cherished friends that he vacationed, fished, and hunted with. His boat and fishing were his passion, and he loved cooking fish fries for everyone.
He was a proud Marine Corps veteran of World War II, where he served in Okinawa. He was a dedicated member of VFW Post #3345 in Strongsville, where he spent much of his free time with other members in expanding the Post. He worked tirelessly and lovingly on the beautiful Veteran's Memorial that was constructed there. He served on a number of Post committees, and he was the grill master for the Friday night fish fries for years. He never hesitated to step up for all the activities the Post sponsored, he loved every moment he spent there, and made many wonderful friends over the years. He and Ann started dating in 1993. They shared many adventures together, and he truly adored her family. He is an uncle, great uncle, and great-great uncle to many. All of these wonderful people brought a great deal of joy and happiness to his life. We love him very much! We will miss him terribly, but we have warm and wonderful memories, and he will remain forever in our hearts. "Semper Fi" Dad! Passed away January 7, 2019. Funeral Service will be Monday, January 14 at the funeral home at 11AM. Burial to follow at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery. Friends may call at the BUSCH FUNERAL HOME, 4334 PEARL RD, CLEVELAND ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 13 FROM 2-4 AND 7-9PM. 216-741-7700 www.buschcares.com
