Tribute & Message From The Family

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother,and Great-Grandmother

Eleanor Lineberger Flowers, age 80, passed away in Westlake, Ohio on Wednesday, June 20 surrounded by her family.

Eleanor was born and raised by Graham and Sarah Lineberger in Dallas, North Carolina. She was one of seven children, which include her five brothers Everett, Harold, Ervin, Paul, and Dan and her sister Margaret Troutman. Even when she lived far away, she faithfully returned each year to attend the Lineberger Family Reunion because family was so dear to her heart. It was there in Dallas in her youth that she attended grade school and met Roger Flowers in the first grade. He later became her best friend and husband of 60 years. Together they raised three children: Mike, Patti, and Kristi.

Through the years they moved many times, but have been residents of the North Olmsted and Westlake area for 42 years where they were active members of John Knox parish. They were also members of the North Ridge Racket Club and The Tennis Club in Avon. Those that she knew from tennis have remarked that she was a fierce competitor with a wicked forehand on the court and a kind heart off the court.

Roger and Eleanor spent their winters in Fort Meyers, Florida where they developed many close friendships. They enjoyed the nice weather, which brought more opportunities to play tennis and host visits from children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Eleanor had a gift for showing her love through her thoughtfulness towards others. She never forgot a birthday. When family was together, her main goal was to be attentive toward others' needs and meticulously plan a wonderful visit. It was not unheard of for Eleanor to prepare a separate dessert for every member of the family, and after a visit you were guaranteed to have gained several pounds. If anyone mentioned that they enjoyed a particular dessert, she enjoyed surprising them with it the next day.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, Graham and Sarah, sister Margaret and daughter Patti.

Left to remember Eleanor's kind heart and loving service are her husband, Roger; son, Mike (Sally); daughter, Kristi (Todd) Loesch; four grandchildren; Crystal (Brian) Regone, Alyse (Nick) James, Olivia Loesch, and Christopher Loesch; four great-grandchildren; Brady, Cally, and Blaise James, and Felicity Regone; and five brothers; Everett, Harold, Ervin, Paul, and Dan.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Cleveland Food Bank 15500 S. Waterloo Rd., Cleveland or John Knox Presbyterian Church 25000 Lorain Rd., North Olmsted, Ohio.

It was such a pleasure to have had Eleanor involved in my life. She was a delightful lady always with stories, advice and great tennis moves. I loved her box lined with pseudo aluminum foil for tanning! May your friends and family be a source of comfort during this difficult time.
